The Parish Room

Some of the money from the Cole bequest has been used to finance the building of a much needed Parish Room at the west end of the church. This gives us facilities which hitherto we have had to manage without.

Facilities such as a toilet; a kitchen where we can make tea, coffee etc.; and space where we can hold PCC Meetings, Vestry Meetings, and other gatherings which do not necessitate a large hall, but are too big to be held at the back of the church. (Click for more details)

The Room was formally dedicated by the Bishop of Chelmsford, on January 16th 2000.
An estimate congregation of 150 people heard the Bishop talk of the "great joy" which it gave him to visit a church which was developing and growing. His address was on the theme taken from 1 Corinthians 3, "God gave me the privilege of laying the foundation like a skilled master builder; others put up the building". Pupils from Bulphan School, and the "Bulphan Singers" augmented the choir which is drawn from the congregations of the three churches in the benefice.

St.Mary's, Bulphan, now has a facility which offers much to the community as a whole, as well as being an ideal spot for Quiet Days, Mothers Union Days, and other similar gatherings.
